Abstract art in general eliminates all or most recognizable references to reality, and instead uses the very basis of how we define reality – shape, line, curve, and color – to influence and provoke feeling and thought. Focusing on only one of these aspects, a line is mathematically defined as a continuous extent of length, straight or curved, without breadth or thickness, although in plane geometry the word 'line' is usually taken to mean a straight line.
